The Path
When we started gardening, there was plenty of trial and error (not to mention wasted time and money). Indeed, the world’s most famous gardens have experimental plots. Nature, she keeps us on our toes!
Even if you’ve studied horticulture in a serious way, it’s impossible to master it all. That’s the fun of gardening. Not only do you get to create a beautiful space to live in and around, but the learning is constant and that is extremely satisfying.
That said, everyone has a different level of interest, space, resources, expertise, and desire. What do you like doing in the garden and what do you despise?
We’ll help you learn a little about your desired path in nature so you can manage your time and expectations. Your “Garden Personality” should dictate how your plot thickens—not the other way around.

Why we're here
Our focus is small scale Garden Design & Planning, based around our Color Stories.
We wish we’d had an inexpensive garden advisor to help when we started out with our own.
Gardening is satisfying, but it can also be extremely overwhelming. That feeling can lead to endless procrastination (despite collecting countless inspiration photos and seed catalogs) or diving in with excessive ambition and taking on too much.
We’ve lived in both of those places, and everywhere in-between. In our fantasy world, everything would look perfect and beautiful all the time—requiring minimal effort (only on the nicest days) without spending a dime. For the few people tucked away in a cottage in a forest that may be a reality, but for most of us… not so much.

The Peas & Q's
Plan. Plant. Prune. Patience. Pick. Produce.
Those are the basic principles of gardening and we’re here to lend a hand to any of these areas that you may just need a little extra insight.
Our Process: Finding Your Color Story
At Terrace Hill, we start with color. Our carefully designed color stories create the perfect mix that not only make you happy but enhance and complement your existing space.
Developed in collaboration with gardeners and artists, our signature palettes range from dark leafy greens with strategic visual surprises to bright summer pinks and yellows—each with their own distinctive tale to tell. After you select your favorite color story, we’ll guide you in choosing the right blend of plants and growth plan from that specific collection. Additionally, we introduce new seasonal options to our lineup annually, ensuring your garden stays current while remaining personal.
Once we’ve established your colors, we offer different tiers of service and benefits based on what you need for the season. Some programs include a site visit, one-on-one consults, and even drone footage of your property to make it easier to see how your hard work blooms and evolves over time.
Whether you’re looking for a little (or a lot of) help planning your garden with zero judgment, we’re here to dig in with you.

Backstory
Gardening is a curious paradox—a solitary sport that thrives on shared wisdom. Even the most independent gardeners occasionally need a second pair of eyes or borrowed expertise.
We love working with our community to keep the Hudson Valley a special place. When we started Terrace Hill, we knew we wanted it to be beautiful. Our aim is to grow our gardens, sell plants & pots, while also working with our clients to educate and demystify gardening. We can help you build confidence, and this is the true key to gardening.
Our plan was to open to the public, but to offer the attention our clients deserve we quickly realized that we need to focus on them. There simply aren’t enough of us to both take care of the gardens and stop to give people the attention they deserve when they visit (and we don’t have much parking!). We’re here to provide our clients with knowledge, inspiration, and occasional rescue missions.

Our clients
You are our clients, not customers. The difference lies in our ongoing relationship with you. We aim to assist DIY gardeners and get you excited (or re-excited) about digging in the dirt with a plan and purpose.
Planning
Can you relate to any of the following?
- I feel overwhelmed.
- I took on too much.
- I can’t get started.
- I need a long-term plan.
- I don’t know enough about plants to buy the right ones.
- I don’t have time or bandwidth to take a masterclass in horticulture.
- I hate weeding, but love everything else.
- I keep killing plants, despite good intentions and solid effort.
We could go on, but you get the idea. We will help you get back on the path in the most proactive and enjoyable way possible.
