October Open days

Saturday & Sundays | 10am-4pm
(Closed 10/11 & 12)

Peak season upstate—that golden window before the garden takes its bow and sheds its summer glory. Come see what thrived, what surprised us, and what we’re definitely doing (or not doing) again. Take your time wandering around, soak up these late-season days, and maybe discover something you didn’t know you needed in your life.

Winter in the Glasshouse When the landscape goes quiet and the ground hardens, we’ll be warming up the glasshouse for intimate workshops and classes. It’s where we’ll keep the growing spirit alive through the darker months—sharing techniques, expertise, creativity and practical knowledge. Because spring always comes, even when it feels impossibly far away.

E-mail hello@terracehill.co with the class name and date to sign up.

Saturday Morning Yoga

Starting September 27 | 10am | $25

Every Saturday through winter, escape to the glasshouse for yoga among the plants. It’s warm, it’s green, and it’s the antidote to those long months when you dread leaving the house. Make it worth it.

All levels and walk-ins (if space allows) welcome.

Winter Garden Prep

October 18 | 12-2pm | $45

‘Tis the season to wrap it up for winter.

This workshop covers how to find, save and store seeds, plus pruning basics—where to cut, what to look for, and why plants actually love it.

Gardening is personal. Some people love it wild, others like it tidy. Your garden has a winter aesthetic whether you realize it or not. We’ll help you discover what you’re drawn to and the pros and cons of each approach.

Learn the techniques, then make the choices that feel right for your space.

Macro Photography Class

October 18 | 3-5pm | $45

Get up in there!

In this class we get up close and personal with what’s left in the garden. You’ll want a camera for this one ideally, but we’ll cover phone photography too.

Learn about close-up focusing, depth of field, patterns in nature and how to use light. This class will sharpen your eye for detail and help you notice things you’ve been walking past all season.

Perfect follow-up to Garden Photography Basics—or jump right in if you’re ready to get really close.

Dried Flower Workshop

October 25 | 12-2pm | $65

These are not your nana’s dusty dried flowers. When properly processed and handled, your summer blooms can create vibrant, modern arrangements that actually brighten those dreary winter months.

You’ll learn which flowers to cut for drying and why, how to cut and process them properly, techniques for different flower types, and how to store them so they last. Together we’ll create an arrangement in a small vase for you to take home.

Plus all the knowledge you need to keep your own summer garden blooming indoors all winter long.

Pressed Flower Art

October 4 | 12-2pm | $65

We’ll show you how to move beyond basic herbarium pressing and create art pieces from the garden. Kept out of direct sun, these pressed flowers hold their color and last for years.

First, we’ll head into the garden to learn what to look for when picking flowers and plants for pressing. Back in the glasshouse, we’ll cut and press your findings to save for later projects. Then you’ll work with our existing pressed collection to create gift cards for the upcoming holiday season.

Three 4×6 cards with envelopes, 2 gift tags, and all the knowledge you need to keep the practice going at home.

Garden Photography Basics

October 4 | 3-5pm | $45

Learn how to take professional-looking photos using whatever camera you have—bring your “real” camera or just use your phone.

We’ll cover how to use light and composition to capture what’s actually happening in your garden. These techniques will help you document your space for future planning, so you can clearly see how color and plant combinations work together and track seasonal bloom times.

Perfect prep for our upcoming Macro Photography class in a few weeks!
